What do we mean by an equation? An expression is said to be an 'equation', when there is the left side and the right side, with the 'equality' sign in the centre. On the other hand, when an equation contains only a single variable, with the highest power of one, it is said to be “Linear Equations in One Variable.” For example, 2x - 3 = 7 and x + 3 = 10.
