Try this. Take a part of a brick and hammer it continuously, until all that is left is a red powder-like substance. The powder-like substance still has minute particles in it. These particles are called ‘Atoms’. Every substance is made up of Atoms. Along with the Atoms, substances are composed of smaller units called ‘Molecules’. But aren’t atoms and molecules the same? What is the difference between the two then? Isn’t this world of atoms and molecules confusing? Surely it is! Let’s brush up these two concepts better in this chapter.
